InSync, Inc. traces back to an optical fabrication shop that operated inside three larger companies before becoming its own. The techniques and the people carried through — only the name on the door changed.
History
Our Story.
InSync, Inc. has roots back to the early 1980's. Our company started as Bell Aerospace, a division of Textron, located in Buffalo, NY. It was at this location that we pioneered the development of internally cooled silicon heat exchangers for use as laser reflecting mirrors. They were used in many high power laser programs including the Free Electron Laser (FEL) for the Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI).
Rockwell International was heavily into FEL resonator design and fabrication and for the purpose of complimenting their efforts, we became a division of Rockwell International. In 1990 the facility was moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, and was expanded to include full optical fabrication from raw material through coating. We have been manufacturing custom optics ever since then.
In 1997, The Boeing Company acquired a large part of Rockwell International, which included our facility. We remained part of The Boeing Company until March of 2000, when we became InSync, Inc, which is who we are today.
Today
A small shop, a long list of hard problems solved.
InSync operates out of a 16,000 sq. ft. facility in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where every stage of fabrication — design, grinding, bonding, and polishing — happens under one roof.
The techniques developed decades ago are still the foundation of the work today: custom optics built to hold tolerance for the labs, aerospace programs, and photonics systems that need it most.
